After starting the Kam3D printing service, it became incredibly clear that more shop organization was necessary, starting with printer and filament management

. This is a work-in progress, and after many months of shuffling printers and material around as needed, is finally in at least working condition.

Starting with the printer rack for the FDM printers, built very beefy from OSB and 2"x4" lumber (photo taken several months ago.

Dividers were later added in between each of the 5 bays with cutouts for electrical, lighting, and PC connection.

I decided to use auto-rewinders for the MK3S+ MMU2, as well as a partial rep-rack system (links at the bottom of the page) in filament storage above the printer rack. The separate enclosure for filament keeps the more moisture-sensitive filaments dry, and provides funnels and feeding tubes down into each bay of the printer rack. M6 PTFE Tube fittings were used to attach the MMU2 to the filament tubes. All printed parts were PETG for added strength.

Added RGB LED lighting, some white paint inside, and clear acrylic sliding doors.

Finally, all bays got a coat of paint inside, some foam mats and patio stones to add mass to each printer for less vibration during operation. The printers are now back up and running! Next steps will be some decorative facia for all front surfaces, as well as some removeable bay covers for printing in ABS, Nylon, etc.

Looking forward to getting back to work for our customers! Please get in touch with any questions, or if you would like to receive a quote.

Links to files used in the filament storage. Some were custom designed parts, but I will share if anyone shows interest:
